    Prerequisite: None

    This lecture course applies the elements and principles in planning total interior environments that meet individual, functional, legal and environmental needs. Selection of all materials and products used in interior environments will be emphasized for both the functional and aesthetic quality.

  3. Course Objectives:

    Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

    1. Recognize career paths leading to the position of a professional interior designer.
    2. Recognize the effect of lighting on interior environments.
    3. Identify, evaluate and apply design principles and elements to interior environments.
    4. Interpret and apply color systems and theories.
    5. Evaluate materials and products used in interior environments for their aesthetic and performance qualities.
    6. Evaluate floor plans for function and user needs.
    7. Identify, analyze and evaluate the physiological, psychological, environmental and cultural factors which effect the design of interiors.

    The student will:

    1. Design a personal career path for five years.
    2. Produce a design room identifying the principles and elements including a project on a 3/D design Accessory with historical and contemporary significance.
